The Rules
How It Works
Everything you need to know about the game — symbols, reels, bonuses, and mechanics. No real money, no complexity. Just pure free-to-play entertainment.
The Reels & Paylines
The game features five reels, each showing three symbols — a 3×5 grid in total. Twenty fixed paylines run left-to-right across the grid, meaning winning combinations must start from the leftmost reel.
Before each spin you can choose how many paylines to activate, and set your line bet using the + and − buttons at the bottom of the screen. Your total bet is simply the line bet multiplied by active lines.
Symbols & Payouts
Eight regular symbols appear on the reels, ranked by value. The four Roman coin symbols (Bronze, Cooper, Silver, Gold) are the lower-value group. The four major symbols — Gladius, Helmet, Amphora, and Laurel Wreath — pay larger rewards.
A Wild symbol can substitute for any regular symbol to help complete winning lines. The Scatter is the special trigger symbol — land four to activate the Fortune Wheel, or five to receive Free Spins.
The Hold Feature
Before pressing Spin, you can hold up to two reels in place using the Hold buttons beneath each reel. Held reels keep their current symbols while the remaining reels spin freely.
Holding reels does adjust your total bet — locking one reel doubles the bet, two reels quadruples it or more. The exact multiplier is shown before you commit.
Fortune Wheel Bonus
Landing four Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels during a single spin launches the Fortune Wheel. A large animated wheel with six sectors spins and slows as the pointer ticks toward your prize.
Each sector awards a different virtual coin amount — from 1 to 12 coins. The wheel adds pure suspense and a satisfying bonus moment, with no real money ever involved.
Free Spins
Five Scatter symbols on the reels in a single spin awards five Free Spins. During this bonus round, spins are played without deducting from your virtual coin balance — the house, so to speak, takes the bet.
Free Spins play out with the same reel mechanics as regular spins, including the possibility of further scatter triggers.
The Jackpot
The virtual Jackpot sits at the top of the game screen and increases by one coin with every spin. If ten Bronze Coin symbols appear anywhere on screen during a single spin, the full current Jackpot is awarded to your balance.
Like everything on Southern Colosseum, the Jackpot is purely virtual — a milestone of the game, not a real-money prize of any kind.
All gameplay uses virtual coins only. No real money is involved at any point.
